Leather and Nylon Flashlight Holders for Hunting Season

Good morning!  I do not know know about you but so far I have been enjoying the Fall 2013 hunting season. I have yet to bag anything yet but I still enjoy being out in the beautiful Wisconsin woods.

I have learned many things in all the years that I have been hunting, first and foremost, safety is number one! It is imperative to practice safety while hiking in the woods. And one of the ways I do this is to be sure that I am wearing the correct clothing but also to make sure that I have a fully charged flashlight attached to my belt.

You may think that this is a piece of equipment that is unnecessary or something that you can leave in your truck or in your blind but that is not the case, you need to have it with you while you walk to and from your vehicle to your blind. It will also be invaluable to you should you shoot a prize buck and need to follow the blood trail.

While walking in the woods point the flashlight down but a few feet ahead of you so that you can see fallen longs and other obstructions but also so that the deer do not see your beam

Hello! Did you enjoy your holiday weekend? And your hunting trip? Were you successful.

Sadly I did not get a deer but I had a wonderful time, and I think that is all that counts.

Turkey Hunting Kit:Getting Ready for the Hunt

Obviously, if you read this blog than you know that I am an avid hunter and outdoors man. I love to be out in the field so to speak, hunting for birds and game and observing nature. Yesterday I mentioned that I am preparing for my Fall turkey hunt and I mentioned some safety precautions to take that are recommended by the Wisconsin DNR. Today, I want to talk about what to take on your hunt!

I think if this is your first time hunting a bare bones kit would include the following:

* gun or bow
* ammunition and arrows
* Turkey tag and license
* Good camouflage outfit
* An orange Hat
* turkey call

An upgrade and what I take is the following:

* Gun or bow
* Ammo/arrows
* tag and license 
* Good camo is KEY!
* Orange Hat for walking back and forth to stand (for safety)
* An excellent padded vest that has room for several calls, a pouch in the back to carry your bird once you get him, and a padded rear to sit on. That way you do not need to carry an extra piece of equipment.
* bug spray
* head net
* gloves
* Thermos of coffee or water
* Fanny pack with the following: snacks, and sandwiches, water, a flashlight, a multi tool , knife, and a means of communication, i.e, two way radio or phone. Also, toilet paper and a compass.

As ALWAYS remember safety first. Make sure that you let people know where you are hunting. Always bring a phone or a means of communication in case of an accident. If you are out at dusk or in the early evening, bring a flashlight!

Welcome Summer

With the passing of Memorial Day, summer has officially begun! This is the time many of us are out camping, fishing and spending time outdoors.

It is important to be safe while out of doors, make sure to always put out your campfire when you are finished. Put your food up away from animals in containers that they cannot open. And while out in the dark have ample lighting so you do not trip over a tree root, or the line from your tent.
